UF researchers find way to possibly reduce harmful algae

After about 20 years, researchers from UF and the Palatka-based St. Johns River Water Management District may have found a new way to decrease populations of algae that are harmful for plants and animals in water.

UF’s Bitcoin club attended The North American Bitcoin Conference on Thursday and Friday in South Florida. Some of the memebers later participated in a hackathon, where they won fourth place and .05 bitcoin or about $532.64.

After 26 hours coding an application related to virtual currency, the Gator Bitcoin Club placed 4th at the Miami Bitcoin Hackathon, winning .05 bitcoin on Sunday.
