Dems use double standard on racism

As the song from the musical “Avenue Q” states, “Everyone’s a little bit racist sometimes. Doesn’t mean we go around committing hate crimes...Maybe it’s a fact we all should face: everyone makes judgments based on race.” I don’t care whether you’re black, white, Hispanic, Asian, biracial or multiracial. At some point in your life, I’m sure you’ve had racist thoughts. If you’ve read this far, you probably agree (though wish you didn’t) or shaking you’re head in outrage because you’re a P.C., apologist liberal who’s a closeted racist. For a while now, we’ve allowed liberal Democrats to define racism. When it benefits them politically, they’ll throw the label at someone, but what happens when it’s one of their own? They quickly excuse to save the squeaky-clean facade they perpetuate.

Dems should be cautious with reform

Thank you, Editorial Board, for writing the “Party Poopers” editorial in Monday’s paper. You were dead on. Those stupid, cautionary senators, Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman, need to keep their mouths shut so we liberals can ram through health care legislation we think is appropriate. If any Democrat questions whether it’s financially sound, screw ‘em! They can join those loser Republicans, who for eight years got to be fiscally irresponsible. Well, now it’s our time, damn it. Who cares if we’re in a recession?

Republicans aren’t too conservative

Matthew Christ needs to learn a thing or two about the political ideology of Americans before he writes another column. In his latest one, "Republicans should move away from fringe," he seems to be under the impression that this country leans moderate to left, and therefore the Republicans lost the presidential election. With every column of his I read, I find myself questioning his understanding of what a conservative is. He seems to think that we are all "Bible-thumping," overzealous patriots, and I for one resent his attempts to pigeonhole us.

Display allowed students to see truth

In Thursday's editorial, the author wrote that the anti-abortion display set up by the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform "was, at best, insensitive and tasteless." Is it the display or the result depicted that is insensitive? How does this author have the audacity to call this group insensitive? They are giving a voice to those who can't speak.
