About 100 people stumbled in and out of the Hippodrome State Theatre Saturday to see Violet, a 21-year-old bat, and Edgar, a Rodrigues fruit bat, for an event hosted by the Lubee Bat Conservancy.
Brian Pope, director of the Lubee Bat Conservancy, will bring two bats to the theatre’s cinema from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday to raise awareness for bat extinction at the first “Go Batty” event.
Kae-Sa-Luk, the Thai art of carving fruits and vegetables, was the only way Pam Maneeratana knew to make money when she moved to the United States 33 years ago.
