When I go on vacation, I like to scour Yelp and other websites to find local businesses and attractions that are unique to the places I visit. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Often, though, we overlook the gems in our own city. And in this town, as small as it may be, we have quite a few unique businesses.

Sometimes I feel like Bigfoot. I’m 30 and an undergraduate student. And I have a 2-year-old.
In the middle of studying for finals, we’re all fantasizing about what we’ll be doing over the winter break. Many of us do the same things year after year, but the college experience is about learning new skills, gaining knowledge, networking and, at the very least, creating some good stories to tell future grandchildren.
