While on the hunt for my next Gainesville dining experience, I came across the Haile Village Bistro. With four out of five starts on Yelp, I had high hopes that the Bistro would be my next hidden gem discovery. But while the Haile ambience delivered, the food came up short.
Since opening in September of 2011, Half Cork’d has made a name for itself as a “classy” downtown Gainesville hangout. Known for its self-serve wines, Half Cork’d has mainly been a destination for Gainesville citizens looking for a drink. However, thanks to the wine bar’s new general manager, Bob Dillon, that’s ready to change.
With the end of the semester quickly approaching, graduation weekend is looming closer and closer. And with grad weekend comes a bevy of parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles all rolling into town to see you strut your way across the stage. But once all of the pomp and circumstance is done, the real fun begins. The eating.
While most of our college budgets don’t lend themselves to extravagant vacations, roadtrips are an affordable way to see the country without blowing too much cash. A hallmark of a good food blog is that it makes you hungry within the first ten seconds. The following blogs easily accomplish this task in addition to fitting one or more of the following criteria for a college cook: 1) recipe simplicity, 2) healthiness, 3) a small cooking space, and 4) an even smaller budget.
With graduation just (are you ready for this?) 50 days away, it’s time to buckle down. No, we’re not talking classes. Let’s be honest, we’ve already mentally checked out of those. We’re talking about food.
If you’re not careful, you might just drive right past East End Eatery and not even know if. Located in Northeast Gainesville, the petite brunch and lunch spot is likely to be missed if you’re not looking for it. But if you do happen upon the Gainesville eatery, you’ll be glad you did.
