Places to spend your Labor Day weekend in Gainesville

Although many see Labor Day as an opportunity for a weekend getaway, Gainesville is also home to a healthy number of events that will make the holiday just as enjoyable as a small vacation. In addition to the Bey Dey Dance Party, Less Than Jake Wake and Bake Weekend, and Chester Bennington Tribute Show already covered elsewhere in this issue, here are a few events to check out over the long weekend.

Things to do in Gainesville before the end of Summer B

Yet another Summer B term has gone as quickly as it came, but there are still a few days left before the short break between semesters ensues. If you haven’t had the time to take advantage of the many different things our city has to offer, now is your chance. Although you have to be 21 or older to get a local beer at Swamp Head Brewery or First Magnitude Brewing Compnay, there are plenty of other things available for the college student in need of cooling off. Here are a few things to check off your Gainesville bucket lists before the short Summer Break is upon us.

Five Events you Won't Want to Miss in Gainesville This Week

UF’s Summer A may never kick the stigma that, at this time, the greater Gainesville area is a desolate and dull college town controlled by a tediously slow clock, one that will restore sunshine and social lives to the city only when Summer B arrives. Little do the town’s residents know that, thanks in part to UF, Gainesville is a hub for culture and entertainment. The following are five events happening this week guaranteed to provide maximum distraction from the not-so-monotonous countdown to Summer B.

As you surely know, finals week is here. This means lots of time studying, right? Or it means lots of time spent thinking about studying, texting your friends about how you don’t know anything and, in the end, seeking alcohol. Well if the latter is the case, we have you covered.

The best and worst: shopping second hand in Gainesville

With summer break approaching, it is important to save money for vacations, internships, study abroad and so on. However, with the changing weather comes the need for a changing wardrobe. That is why shopping second hand is so great for college students: Besides being environmentally friendly, it saves money. Through extensive research (and probably too much money and time), I have amassed a list of some secondhand clothing stores to check out, and others to steer clear of.
