Miami rivalry still a big deal

Nothing is 100 percent certain yet, but it's looking more and more like UF wide receiver Percy Harvin will play against Miami on Saturday.
I just got back from interviews after Gators football practice, and I have couple great stories from the interviews.
The last time the Gators took the field without Urban Meyer roaming the sidelines was the 2004 Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
With the Gators traveling to No. 5 Florida State next week, a young, struggling UF offense was in dire need of some confidence.
UF's secondary went into the season opener against Hawaii hoping to prove it was better than the unit that finished No. 98 in the nation in pass defense last year. It's still too early to tell how good the group is, but outscoring the Warriors and quarterback Tim Tebow isn't a bad start.
It looked like a punt that wouldn't be returned, bouncing twice on the grass.
The Gators played a nearly flawless game on Saturday, but if there was one flaw to be found, it was in those tiny, yellow flags that flew all around the stadium.
Silly Brandon James, you're probably going to make us do this most weeks, aren't you? After his 74-yard punt return for a touchdown, James was named the SEC's Special Teams Player of the Week on Tuesday. It's the second team in his career he's won the award. He is one touchdown short of tying the school record for punt returns, set by Jacquez Green while he was here in the '90s.
Don't be fooled by the fact that Hawaii is listed before Miami on UF's schedule. The matchup with the Hurricanes on Saturday is the real season opener.
The idea that UF would put up eight touchdowns against Hawaii wasn't all that far-fetched, but doing so while quarterback Tim Tebow scored just once didn't seem quite right.
Urban Meyer wasn't kidding when he said opponents can't afford making a mistake against his running backs.
The Gators will open the season on Nov.14 against Toledo in the O'Connell Center during the first round of the O'Reilly Classic.
The UF basketball team will be part of ESPN's College GameDay for the fourth consecutive year when they play Tennessee in Knoxville on Jan. 31.
Urban Meyer wasn't kidding when he said opponents can't afford to make a mistake against his running backs.
ESPN announced today that it's College GameDay show will take broadcast from Gainesville on Saturday for the UF-Miami game. The show begins at 10 a.m. and the game starts in primetime at 8 p.m.
Nothing says coming-out party like a Most Valuable Player award.
