Less than one week remains until Florida kicks off the 2017 regular season against Michigan at AT&T Stadium. The Gators enter this year as back-to-back SEC East champions, notching 13 conference wins under coach Jim McElwain since he took over the program in 2015. As always, UF’s success on the gridiron this fall will largely depend on its roster, a group of players featuring both seasoned veterans and unestablished newcomers. Here is the position preview for players set to play running back at Florida this year:
Florida’s Jim McElwain, Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh and a bouquet of other college football coaches are wasting their time drawing up plays to move a ball up and down a rectangle. No, based on how much paranoia, control and secrecy they like to involve in such an arbitrary task, it’s clear they belong somewhere else: the U.S. military.
Courtney Brosnan guessed wrong.
Florida coach Jim McElwain is a man with a plan — and that’s all he’s willing to say.

Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor by technical knockout on Saturday.
After leaving Gainesville, many former Gators players are continuing their careers at the next level. Here’s a look at how former Florida players performed in Week 3 of the preseason in this edition of Gators in the NFL:
For the first time in program history, the Florida Gators beat two top-five opponents in back-to-back nights after defeating No. 1 Texas in four sets Friday and No. 5 Nebraska in a five-set thriller on Saturday.
After a midfield volley from junior midfielder Sarah Troccoli found the control of Briana Solis’ left foot just 20 yards from goal, she couldn’t help but notice the streak of a white jersey cutting across the middle of the box.
It was only fitting that the game concluded on a Rachel Kramer kill.
As they jogged out of the tunnel, the Gators were met with a tenacious roar from their fans. At the end of the game, the same roar erupted as the Gators finished their upset of No. 1 Texas.
Lais Araujo sprinted straight for the Florida bench. The UF midfielder leapt into the arms of her sidelined teammates and was surrounded by pink pennies just seconds after scoring the decisive goal against No. 1 Stanford.
Malik Zaire worked with Florida’s first-team offense during the team’s open portion of practice on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Luke Del Rio did. And on the day before that, who knows? Because while there was no way to check since practice was closed, it doesn’t seem to matter to coach Jim McElwain who’s taking the first-team reps.
It's been 630 days since the Gators played their last game in the O’Connell Center, a thrilling 3-1 victory in the NCAA Tournament against Florida State in 2015.
Yes, I understand Gator football season is underway next weekend.
Tonight’s clash at Dizney Stadium will feature two of the most talented rosters in collegiate women’s soccer as No. 1 Stanford (2-0) travels to No. 8 Florida (2-0).
In the inaugural draft of the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League, four former Gators were selected alongside two current assistant coaches.
UF freshman receiver James Robinson and freshman linebacker Ventrell Miller were cited on a complaint of marijuana possession in an on-campus dorm room early Monday morning.
