The Gators volleyball team looks to avenge its 2016 loss to Florida State

Her list of high school accolades takes up a whole laptop screen, and her talent and volleyball IQ takes up the whole court on gameday.
Rhamat Alhassan approached the net as Allie Monserez set the shot for her. With a jump and a smack, Alhassan sent a roaring attempt into the hardwood floors of the O’Connell Center, leading her team to a win over the Lipscomb Bisons, 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 25-16 .
Mary Wise will be the first to tell you she doesn’t care how many wins she has.
After Hurricane Irma forced a 12-day layover for the Gators, some wondered if third-ranked Florida would show some rust against Florida A&M.
It’s been just under two weeks since the Florida volleyball team took the court for a meaningful game. After the cancellation of last weekend’s Active Ankle Invitational, the No. 3 Gators will return to the O’Connell Center to host a group of nonconference opponents.
Despite the cancellation of the Active Ankle Challenge, which included matches against No. 23 Michigan State, American and North Carolina Greensboro, the No. 3 Gators found a way to be productive.
It was a clean sweep for the Gators as they visited Puerto Rico to take part in the SEC-ACC Challenge. Over the weekend, Florida easily took down its two opponents, unranked N.C. State and then-No. 16 North Carolina, in sweeping fashion, as the team did not lose a single set in its two matches.
This season might be different.
It was a dominant night for the Gators as they handily swept NC State 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-22).
Rachael Kramer stood in front of reporters on Wednesday coming off Florida’s strong start to the season. Despite winning multiple honors this week, including the American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Week, she remained modest by crediting her teammates.
After an opening weekend that featured a pair of top-5 upsets at the hands of the Florida volleyball team, the No. 3 Gators insist that they’re still hungry for more.
For the first time in program history, the Florida Gators beat two top-five opponents in back-to-back nights after defeating No. 1 Texas in four sets Friday and No. 5 Nebraska in a five-set thriller on Saturday.
It was only fitting that the game concluded on a Rachel Kramer kill.
As they jogged out of the tunnel, the Gators were met with a tenacious roar from their fans. At the end of the game, the same roar erupted as the Gators finished their upset of No. 1 Texas.
It's been 630 days since the Gators played their last game in the O’Connell Center, a thrilling 3-1 victory in the NCAA Tournament against Florida State in 2015.
Yes, I understand Gator football season is underway next weekend.
There’s a lot of excitement within the Florida volleyball team. Excitement for 2017 home matches to finally be played at the O’Connell Center again.
Shainah Joseph took a leap and sent a spike down the baseline for the first point of the game. From there, the Gators would go on to beat Coastal Carolina in a friendly exhibition against the school from the Big South conference.
Eighteen Florida volleyball players filled the residence with friendly chatter, excited laughter and new faces.
