The men's team wanted to bounce back from a disappointing finish at the Notre Dame Invitational and it did.
The UF men's and women's swimming teams began the season in fine fashion with road wins over Virginia. Both teams improved to 8-0 all-time against the Cavaliers.
Despite extremely impressive starts, none of the Gators were able to traverse the highly competitive fields and win a championship at the ITA All-American tournaments.
When UF travels to Virginia for its season opener this weekend, the Gators will have two experienced seniors leading the way.
Despite having to face three ranked opponents in the previous two days, UF freshmen Allie Will and Lauren Embree looked as strong as ever in first-round wins at the ITA All American Championships.
The UF runners are hoping to secure spots later in the season with a strong performance at the FSU Invitational on Saturday morning.

While Johnny Hamui's attempt to get a second Gator into the men's main draw of the ITA All American Championships came to an unsuccessful end on Tuesday, freshman Lauren Embree was dominant in her first and second round of qualifying and still has a shot at joining Marrit Boonstra in the women's draw.
With injuries and inconsistency threatening to limit the number of UF entrants into the ITA All-American Tennis Championships to just one, junior Johnny Hamui is trying to make that two.
With both teams having wins under their belts, UF's men's and women's cross country squads are hoping to finish strong against nationally ranked teams at the Notre Dame Invitational, which begins today at 4:15 p.m.
This weekend, the Florida men's golf team will compete in the Gary Koch Invitational, co-hosted by Kentucky and Auburn in Tampa on the par-72 Old Memorial Golf Course.

The 2009 Gator Invitational, held this past weekend at the Ring Tennis Complex, gave the UF men's tennis team an opportunity to experiment with a variety of lineups and gave the women's team an opportunity to showcase their excellence.
The Florida women's golf team finished the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship in 14th place with a team score of 581 (+5).
The UF women's golf team will be traveling to Franklin, Tenn., this weekend to compete in the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship on the par-72 Vanderbilt Legend Club North Course.
