While walking to the game today I ran into a few Hawaii fans and complimented them on coming this far for the game.
Taurean Green confirmed Wednesday that he will play in Spain next year for CIA Zaragoza.
Newcomer Tahnai Annis got a chance to respond Wednesday to being named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman Soccer Player of the Week following her golden goal against Florida Atlantic on Sunday.
It looks like the Gators may have to make due without Percy Harvin until the Tennessee game, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.
Though that's not what the announcer on this video would have you believing.
Gators starting middle linebacker Brandon Spikes will probably not be playing in Saturday's season-opener against Hawaii, UF coach Urban Meyer said Monday morning.
Gators running back Chris Rainey may not be the best player to talk to for many things, but he sure as hell knows how to make reporters laugh. This exchange could be heard at UF's morning press conference today with the player of "I'm a white-girl man" fame.
ESPN and the Southeastern Conference has reached a huge ridiculous 15-year deal. The deal begins in 2009-10 and will include events from football, men's basketball and women's basketball. Check our Web site later tonight as we'll have a full story.
According to the Miami Herald former UF safety Jamar Hornsby has enrolled at East Mississippi Community College where he will play football this season. He will be eligible to transfer to another FBS school next year. Hornsby was kicked off the team earlier this summer after it was discovered that he made nearly $3,000 worth of charges to the credit card of deceased UF student Ashley Slonina. Hornsby was originally arrested on a felony charge. According to Alachua County court records, the charges were reduced Wednesday to four misdemeanor counts of unauthorized use of a credit card.
Team goofball and media favorite Duke Lemmens spoke today and he joked he was going to prep for Hurricane Fay by getting an umbrella as his protection. The Cali native hasn't ever been through a hurricane and has only dealt with earthquakes and fires.
The Associated Press preseason poll was released on Saturday, and UF found itself in familiar territory.
Sorry for the delay in getting this up for all you, but it's been a hectic few days in Alligator land as we're preparing for the New Student Edition (check the Web site in the upcoming weeks for stories, mainly aimed toward freshmen).
UF tight end Cornelius Ingram is being sued for less than $1,065 for back rent by Paradigm Properties, according to Alachua County civil court records. Ingram has failed to pay rent due since before July 7, according to the document. Ingram recently had successful surgery on his torn left ACL.
UF has already lost tight end Cornelius Ingram for the season and receiver Percy Harvin still hasn't fully practiced, and now No. 2 receiver Louis Murphy is out with a sprained ankle. Coach Urban Meyer said he doesn't "think it's that serious" and Murphy should be back later this week. However, still not a good sign. For those keeping track at home, that probably leaves Deonte Thompson has the Gators top receiver right now.
