When COVID-19 shut down Florida schools in March, it also interrupted state testing and college entrance exams.
More than halfway through the first quarter, slightly above 100 students and staff members in Alachua County Public Schools have tested positive for COVID-19.
School board members heard plans regarding Howard Bishop’s gym, Buchholz’s track and Gainesville High School’s remodeling
The board also received an update about the county’s hybrid teaching model
Total cases are at 50 students and 29 staff members since school started Aug. 31
There are 32 student cases and 23 staff total cases as of Friday evening
Tina Certain and Leanetta McNealy, as well as Diyonne McGraw, spoke of their journeys to the school board
The school district’s COVID-19 dashboard shows 14 active student cases and six active staff cases
The workshop presented the early plans for potential school zones
Despite funding challenges, the board passed the annual budget, which is more than $537 million
There are mixed reviews for the learning option that has students online and in the classroom
