At the end of the vigil, a proclamation from Mayor Lauren Poe was read which named July 20, 2020 as the Black Lives Matter Trans Inclusive Movement Day in the CIty of Gainesville.
Gainesville declared July 20 as Black Lives Matter and Trans Inclusive Movement Day. Trans and ally voices rang in the proclamation with chants and speeches on the steps of City Hall Monday.

Regina Livingston, also known as Natalia Dupree, the founder of Unspoken Treasure Society, leads the crowd in cheers of “Black lives matter” and “Trans lives matter.” She is a born-and-raised Gainesville resident, and was inspired to start the Unspoken Treasure Society because when she attempted to get help for herself, she couldn’t find it. "So at that moment, I needed to be the help," she said. "I needed to be the change that I wanted to see.” The mission of Unspoken Treasure Society “is to rally and provide resources on job placement and equality, affordable and fair housing, safe sex education and HIV awareness through counseling, suicide prevention, and advocating for victims of domestic abuse in efforts to help stop the violence against transgender men and women."
Angela Zanreya Hunt is a transgender woman who advocates for trans and non-binary lives accross the nation. “We all deserve to live our lives authentically, fully, completely,” she said. She began her speech at the Black Trans Lives Matter Candlelight Vigil by repeating her name. “Speak my name now so that my brothers and sisters do not have to speak my name in remembrance," she said. "We do not deserve to die. We do not deserve to be taken from this world simply because you do not understand me.” According to the Human Rights Campaign, in 2019 at least 25 transgender or non-binary people were killed in 2019 and 22 have been killed in just the first seven months of 2020.
