The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who pistol-whipped a Walgreens pharmacist and made off with Oxycontin and Adderall.
At about 11 a.m. on Sunday, the suspect walked into the Walgreens at 7520 W. Newberry Rd. and headed straight to the pharmacy counter, according to Alachua County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Art Forgey.
The man hopped over the counter, approached the only pharmacist on duty and struck him behind his right ear with what is believed to be a handgun, Forgey said.
The man demanded the drugs and left on foot as soon as he got what he wanted. The crime was caught on video surveillance.
The man is described as white with brown hair and light facial hair, of medium build, between the ages of 20 and 40 years old, and wearing blue jeans, a black- and yellow-striped long sleeve shirt, a red baseball cap and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the crime is asked to call Detective Sandra Myers at 352-367-4083.
