Gainesville police respond to apartment shooting

Two victims were taken to the hospital

The Gainesville Police Department responded to a shooting at The Ridge apartment complex at 8:40 p.m. Thursday.

The shooting at the apartment, located at 500 SW 34th St., resulted in two male victims with gunshot wounds being taken to a hospital, according to GPD.

One man was shot in the chest while the other was shot in the leg, according to GPD spokesperson Brandon Hatzel.

Whether the two were affiliated with UF isn’t known as of Thursday evening, he said.

The man with chest wounds died while at the hospital, Hatzel said.

GPD hasn’t identified a suspect as of Friday morning
