A piece of roof collapsed on a woman Wednesday night around 7 p.m.
Part of the roof in Sade Williams’, 26, master bedroom at the 2017 NE 15th St. house fell on her head.
Williams’ fiance, Anthony Willis, 28, was walking home with his 5-year-old son from the park at Howard Bishop Middle School, when he heard a scream.
He opened the door and the roof had fallen on Williams’ head.
Willis said he noticed a crack a half centimeter wide and about three inches long on Tuesday.
The crack got wider on Wednesday. He said at about 5 p.m. the roof had dropped four inches.
“I didn’t think that a little crack would do that,” Willis said.
Willis said a roofer was fixing the roof in the house on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Williams was home with her cousin and 6-year-old daughter.
Gainesville Police Department Public Information Officer Ben Tobias said a piece of plaster fell and there was no structural damage to the house.
He said Gainesville Fire Rescue Department took Williams to Shands Hospital.
