Deputies have now charged the ex-wife of Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Williams with premeditated murder.

On Friday, police arrested Alexis Touchton-Williams, a Gainesville psychiatrist, after she reportedly shot her ex-husband in the arm at her home, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office report.

At about 5 p.m., Williams arrived to pick up their daughter and drop off some paperwork when Touchton-Williams crouched and pointed a black semi-automatic gun at his chest.

Williams told police he realized “she was going to kill me” and turned before getting shot in the arm.

Police originally charged Touchton-Williams with aggravated battery after she spoke to police about the incident. Once authorities interviewed her ex-husband after his medical procedures, the charge was changed to attempted murder.

When Williams told police the gun had been lying on a coffee table in the entranceway, deputies decided to switch the charges to premeditated murder.

“After we spoke to Mr. Williams, her charges were upgraded because the new charges were more fitting,” said ASO spokesman Art Forgey.

Touchton-Williams said she had placed it there earlier, according to the report.

Forgey said Williams remained in the hospital Monday with a non-life threatening gunshot wound on his arm.

Touchton-Williams, 39, now faces a $750,000 bond.

She had originally faced a $200,000 bond and an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charge.

As of press time, Touchton-Williams remained in the Alachua County Jail.
