A UF alumna wore orange and blue as she competed on the “Jeopardy!” episode that aired Tuesday night.

Dr. Kyle Lauren Webb, a 2012 graduate of UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine, won first place and about $4,400 as she competed against two other contestants.

The show was filmed Dec. 14 and 15, but Webb couldn’t tell anyone about the results until the show aired.

Webb, 32, said she tried to get on the show for 11 years. After taking an online test to qualify for auditions, she was finally invited to Tampa for a chance to fulfill her dream.

She found out in November that she’d be on the show.

“Jeopardy!” films five shows a day, and Webb watched with the other contestants as the first group filmed in December.

They ended the game with zero dollars, she said.

“It was nerve-wracking,” she said.

Even more than the victory, Webb said she enjoyed just being on the show.

“It’s something that’s been on my bucket list since I was a teenager,” Webb said.

Dr. Alex Fox-Alvarez, who went to veterinary school with Webb, said he had no doubt she would do well.

About five years ago, the two would join friends for trivia nights around Gainesville.

“She’s a huge trivia nerd,” Fox-Alvarez, 28, said. “She would just kill it.”

Fox-Alvarez said he wasn’t surprised to see Webb do so well on the show.

“She’s just brilliant,” he said. “She’s one of the smartest people I know.”
