School on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving should be canceled.
What reasoning could UF and its professors possibly give to justify penalizing students who must make travel plans? This policy endangers other students who have to speed off Wednesday evening to catch planes or trains.
Many universities around the country give the whole week of Thanksgiving off or Tuesday and Wednesday at least.
These schools understand the safety of their students comes first. An extra day or two of classes makes no difference in the long run when compared to the tragedy that could befall an innocent student rushing to make it home on time.
To all of academia against officially canceling school today and to all the professors who don't make class optional, if misfortune befalls students hurrying home for Thanksgiving, their blood is on your hands.
