Gainesville Regional Utilities said a power outage that initially affected nearly1,500 people has been mostly resolved.
As of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, fewer than 20 of the 1,444 customers still don’t have power in the area from Northwest 53rd Avenue to Northwest 39th Avenue and Northwest 13th Street to Northwest 24th Boulevard. The outage was caused by a ground transformer malfunctioning, Gainesville Regional Utilities spokesperson Maureen Murtha wrote in an email. Traffic lights?
The transformer, located at Northwest 19th Street and Northwest 39th Avenue, caused a circuit to shut off, Murtha said.
Murtha said fewer than 20 customers will likely remain without power for more than an hour.
Gainesville Police Department tweeted officers were on their way to direct traffic after multiple traffic lights were out in the region.
