A roll of cash flowed through UF Thursday when three employees from the local sushi restaurant Rolls 'n Bowls handed out about $500 around various spots on campus.

Dave Piasecki, Hiro Leunja and Dan Galati started down at the Gale Lemerand commuter lot and made their way through campus hitting the McCarty bus stop and ending in Turlington Plaza, where they handed out 500 $1 bills.

However, as an incentive for students to spend the cash at Rolls 'n Bowls, a coupon was added to the face of the bill, hiking up its value to $4.

UF senior Mike Mojica was the first student to receive a buck.

"I think it's great," he said. "Even though it's not worth much."

Leunja, the restaurant's concept developer, said the team plans to come to UF throughout the next few months to hand out cash again.

UF freshman Hannah Brennan said she was surprised to be handed the cash but thought it was a unique idea and more of an incentive to dine out.

But not all students felt the same.

Freshman Coleby Frieland said he probably won't be stopping by Rolls 'n Bowls anytime soon.

"It's just a dollar, and I don't like sushi," he said.

Some students were simply confused by the handouts and chose to not accept them.

Piasecki, the store's general manager, said the majority of students seemed receptive to the team's promotional efforts.

"We're able to give back to the community," he said. "If they don't want to come in and eat, then they can go buy a soda or something."
