After a stormy week brought on by Hurricane Helene that forced the Bedford Cup to reschedule and relocate, Florida women’s tennis wrapped up play in Coral Gables, Florida, on Saturday. The Oct. 4-6 tournament featured nine universities, all from Florida, and was canceled after the first day of play due to poor weather conditions.

Florida women’s tennis freshman Noemie Oliveras and senior Alicia Dudeney competed in both doubles and singles at the event. The Bedford Cup marked Oliveras’ second tournament of the Fall season for the Gators, while it was Dudeney’s third.

In singles, Oliveras dropped her lone match 7-6, 6-4 to FIU junior Anja Draskovic. Sheheld the lead for most of the match against Oliveras, never giving the freshman a chance to come back.

Dudeney, who has won two singles matches so far this Fall season for the Gators, bested UCF freshman Hannah Rylatt 6-2, 6-2 in her singles match on Friday. Dudeney was listed as the No. 1-seed for the small tournament and was scheduled to take on Stetson junior Anastasija Adeikyte on Saturday. Her second-round singles match wasn’t played, as the Bedford Cup was announced as canceled on Saturday due to inclement weather, according to the University of Miami women’s tennis X page.

Before the cancellation, the UF women’s tennis doubles pair of Oliveras and Dudeney dropped its round of 16 matchups after getting a bye through the round of 32. In its sole doubles match, the pair lost 6-3 to FAU freshman Sara Sarinova and senior Millie-Mae Matthews.

Florida will next head to the ITA Regional Championships in Atlanta from Oct. 10-14.
