Gainesville Police investigate the scene of an accident on East University Avenue early Saturday.
According to police, a car traveling west on University Ave. struck three pedestrians crossing the road, two women and one man, near the East First Street intersection at about 1:55 a.m. Saturday. The victims were transported to Shands at UF where at least one of the female victims was in critical condition.
Gainesville Police initiated a vehicular homicide investigation, which GPD Lt. David Rowe said is standard when victims suffer serious bodily injury, even though all three victims were still alive.
