The fact that Zeta's national office has offered to pay for the damage caused at the Columbia Restaurant does not reflect a "common ideal of responsibility," as stated in Mr. Escribano's letter.

If the sorority truly valued responsibility, it would issue an apology to the employees who had to clean up the disgusting messes and mandate that those who caused the damage return to the establishment to personally right their wrongs.

The national chapter has instead chosen the easy way out by offering to cut a check, hoping it will make the problem disappear.

I also feel obliged to remind Mr. Duffey that the Columbia Restaurant is not a bar in Gainesville, and it is not an appropriate place for "drunken antics."

The actions of the sorority at the restaurant have, unfortunately, overshadowed its efforts to raise money for breast cancer research. However, the member can blame only themselves for that, not the student newspaper.
