The Orange and Blue Party released its platform online Monday night. It addresses eight themes, including sustainability, free printing and transportation.
"We think we brought the best candidates, who really sat down and pounded out innovative ideas," said Mark McShera, the party's candidate for Student Body president.
McShera said one of the biggest issues on the platform is the "Rally in Tally," which will happen in March.
Party members plan to bring a group of students to the state capitol in order to lobby for a "fully funded university," despite the budget cuts.
"We need to mobilize students," McShera said.
According to McShera the platform's points came from Senate candidates as well as party leaders. However, Senate candidates were encouraged to talk to their student constituents in order to get a sense of other needs that may have been unfulfilled in the past.
McShera said candidates came up with ideas after speaking with constituents and friends, such as creating a scooter repair center on campus similar to that of the campus bike repair.
McShera hopes the ideas on the Orange and Blue Party platform will interest students and push them to the polls. He explained how on-campus turnout can have a larger impact.
"An increase in student involvement in Student Government means they are more likely to vote in local elections and national elections," he said.
