Welcome to the Fall 2013 semester!
I am so thrilled for the year ahead and even more excited to have the opportunity to represent more than 50,000 Gators here at the University of Florida.
It is an amazing time to be a student at the University of Florida. As the state’s flagship university, we are always finding ways to improve our campus and the overall student experience. A great example of this can be seen right at the heart of our campus in our student union. Currently undergoing a $75 million renovation and expansion, the J. Wayne Reitz Union will soon have enough space to house all of our 900+ student organizations and serve as our central hub for student services.
Looking back at my time here, the best advice I can give to any Gator is that your time here is what you make of it. Join the club you got a flier for, attend the seminar that interests you and take an active role in the UF community. There is no better way to enhance your UF experience than to immerse yourself right in it.
With such a diverse campus and large Student Body, finding your niche becomes even more important. Although it might take some time, there is a place for everyone on this campus, all you need to do is seek it out! For me, Student Government was my niche and I encourage anyone who is interested to come visit our offices on the third floor of the Reitz Union and see what we have to offer our students. From agencies to services, there are many ways to get involved.
During my campaign for Student Body President, I really enjoyed blogging to everyone what I was doing. After taking office, I created a new blog (www.studentbodyprezuf.blogspot.com), which I have kept updated in order to properly inform the Student Body on the projects that my administration and I are working on. Additionally, I also include some tips on life in Gainesville, upcoming events and ways to enhance your experience on campus.
I can’t wait to spend this year representing the Student Body. If you ever have anything you would like to see on campus, always feel free to stop by my office.
