A UF student was arrested Friday night after texting his ex-girlfriend threats and showing up at her apartment, Gainesville Police said.
Calvin Ming Leung Yeung, 20, sent texts threatening physical harm to himself and his ex-girlfriend, saying he wanted to rape her so he could “own” her again, according to an arrest report.
The ex-girlfriend told police she received texts from Yeung throughout the day starting at 8 a.m. and was scared he would act on his threats, according to the report. She showed the texts to Yeung’s roommate, who advised her to leave her apartment.
Yeung went to her apartment after she had left and let himself inside, police said. He did not let her know he was coming over, according to the report.
Within two minutes of being in the apartment he realized the victim was not there but stayed to wait for her, he told police after his arrest.
As Yeung left the apartment, police saw him and arrested him on charges of aggravated stalking and writing a threat to kill or injure.
Yeung is a UF student, according to the student directory.
He was taken to the Alachua County Jail where he remains, as of press time, in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
