Early voting in Gainesville for the 2021 Regular Election began March 5 and runs until March 13.

Commissioner Gail Johnson faces Gabriel Hillel for Gainesville’s At-Large B seat and Commissioner Gigi Simmons comes up against Desmon Duncan-Walker for the District 1 seat.

Voters can go in person to vote early from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at four locations: the Supervisor of Elections Office, the Millhopper Branch Library, the Reitz Union and the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center.

Masks are encouraged, but not mandatory, at the county elections office. But UF issued a reminder in February that masks are required for voters at the Reitz Union. CDC guidelines for social distancing will be observed in both polling locations.

Per Florida law, photo and signature identification is required to vote. A Florida driver's license, Florida identification card, passport, debit or credit card, military identification, student identification, retirement center identification, neighborhood association identification or public assistance identification can be used to vote.

This will be the last city election to be held on its own. In 2018, Gainesville voted to hold city and county commission elections together in August and November starting next year.

A sample ballot is available on the Alachua County voting website.
