Florida Gators football head coach Billy Napier will remain with the program for the 2025 season and the foreseeable future amid speculation of job status throughout this season. UF athletic director Scott Stricklin released a statement Thursday morning addressing “Gator Nation” and briefing them on the decision.

“As we’ve seen these past several weeks, the young men on this team represent what it means to be a Gator,” Stricklin said. “Their resolve, effort and execution are evident in their performance and growth each week – building a foundation that promises greater success next season and beyond.”

This comes after rumors swirled in the early stages of the season regarding Napier’s future at Florida following two huge losses to then-ranked No. 19 Miami and Texas A&M. Many UF fans were not pleased with the product on the field and began to wonder if Napier was the right man to return the Gators back to its winning ways.

Napier has a 15-18 record and an 8-13 SEC record in his three seasons with the program. Currently sitting at 4-4, the injury-riddled Gators will need to find two more wins coming down the stretch to become bowl-eligible.

The Gators travel to Austin this weekend to take on the No. 5 Texas Longhorns (7-1, 3-1 SEC). Saturday’s kickoff is slated for noon.
