Citing privacy rules, UF officials aren't revealing what possible consequences a student fired for plagiarizing The New York Times during a reporting internship will face.
Third-year journalism student Hailey Mac Arthur, who was fired last week from a summer internship with The Colorado Springs Gazette, met Wednesday morning with officials from the College of Journalism and Communications to discuss her academic future.
The Gazette determined Mac Arthur had plagiarized The New York Times in four of her stories.
"I really can't say anything other than the matter is being resolved," said William McKeen, chair of the Department of Journalism.
McKeen, along with journalism master lecturer Mike Foley, attended the meeting with Mac Arthur.
John Wright, dean of the college, said he won't be able to discuss the case but said the college would handle the situation.
"We'll follow university policy and do whatever is appropriate," Wright said.
Mac Arthur could not be reached for comment by e-mail.
