While the reprieve from the Florida heat was short-lived for Gainesville, it's no surprise that the rest of the world is acting as if it was actually cold outside. It is January, after all, and this season's latest fashions include an array of the most stylish winterwear.

Although it might as well be summertime in Gainesville, here's a roundup of the season's trendiest boots and coats for all those hoping the temperature drops below 60 degrees soon.

The coat of the moment is the trench coat. After years of being toted as the clothing choice of the male streaker, it has finally made its way to high style. Celebrities like Katie Holmes, Rihanna and Ali Larter have all been spotted sporting the trend.

For an elegant, ladylike look, choose trench coats in simple, classic colors like beige, light blue and black. Wear it over a dress with heels or jeans tucked into boots. To add a little edge to the look, try bold colors like yellow, red or gingham, or opt for a leather trench instead of the usual nylon-poly blend.

Another hot coat for the winter is the classic pea coat. The pea coat is clean-cut, stylish and looks good on any frame. For a mod touch to the original style, try a high-collar pea coat in bright red or black.

Boots are a staple in any woman's closet, and this season's got some of the hottest selections.

Knee-high leather boots are a must-have for everyday wear and a classic cut that has been stylish for years. This season, however, celebs like Hilary Duff and Kate Moss are literally raising the bar by sporting thigh-high boots. Worn over skinny jeans, the look is undeniably trendy, but it should be reserved to only the most daring of fashionistas. Flat boots are also a trend for the season. From suede riding boots in interesting colors like teal or purple, to one of the most coveted boots of any season, the UGG boot, flat boots are just as chic as heels. The UGG boot of the moment is the classic crochet boot, which was again named as one of "Oprah's Favorite Things" in 2007 and is sure to continue flying off the shelves.

These trends are simply too stylish to let the heat keep you from wearing them, so zip up your boots, pull on a coat and sweat your butt off if you must. Who knows when there might be another cold front rolling in.
