Robert Rodriguez (“Sin City”) directed a short film starring Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant called “The Black Mamba” for Nike, which was just released online over the NBA All-Star weekend.
The concept is a film-within-a-film as Rodriguez pitches Bryant a movie idea with him as the Black Mamba (Bryant's NBA nickname), and his goal is to protect his shoes against all comers. The short, which runs just over five-and-a-half minutes, also stars Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Kanye West as villains whom Bryant must defeat to protect his precious Nikes.
Would you pay to see this as a full-length film in theaters? I personally think it would end up as a weird live-action version of “Space Jam,” so I am content to watch this neat short.
