Is it so much to ask? Last night, two of my friends and I were enjoying the beautiful six-stair set by the music building, performing 180s and ollies and continually progressing through harder and harder tricks.

But the skateboarder grudgingly accepts a constant annoyance: people who will do everything in their power to prevent us from skateboarding.

Little did we know, a staff member followed us around for 15 minutes building a case, and when the time was right, he called the campus police.

The officers arrived with their obligatory warnings, and don't get me wrong, they were truly understanding. However, they informed us that if we ever performed tricks on any piece of school property again, we would be considered trespassers and would be placed in the warm arms of judicial affairs.

Wait. What? We can't skate on any school property (except for the below-par skate park) again? Isn't that a little dramatic?

Others must agree when I question the fairness of this situation.

I'll sign a waiver, help the school design a better skate park, I'll do anything. Everyone, including the officers themselves, knows that I'm doing no more damage to the property than the rest of the student population (considering the amount of Unite Party stickers I noticed everywhere).

I'm not asking for dramatic change. I'm not asking for the right to disturb the student population. I'm asking for a little common sense, a little cooperation and a little more fun. I just want to skateboard.
