A helicopter crash near the Gainesville Regional Airport on Tuesday morning left the pilot without injury, officials said.
Alachua County Sheriff's Office spokesman Keith Faulk said one pilot was on board. Anthony Soldano was flying from the St. Petersburg area to Gainesville in a rental helicopter, Faulk said.
Faulk said he couldn't say what the cause was, but he said the pilot said it was a loss of power.
The incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Kathleen Bergen, FAA spokeswoman, said the helicopter was a Robinson R-22.
It crashed 5 miles north of the airport.
