Dear Editor,

I was amazed to open the Monday Alligator and find no story about the National Championship football game that evening.

The game pitted No. 1 ranked, in-state rival Florida State University and No. 2 ranked SEC rival Auburn, which had an incredible win over then No.1 ranked Alabama to get to the championship, including the greatest single game-ending play in the history of college football.

Was this just a horrible oversight?

Or did the Alligator sports reporters drink too much spiked eggnog over the holidays?

Maybe it was just that our hometown Gators weren’t in the game and your reporters lost interest?

I see your newspaper is advertising for new columnists. Perhaps you need to start with the sports department.

When I wrote for my high school paper in Miami long ago, I covered all sports and sporting events, or else I heard about it from not only the athletes themselves, but also the Student Body at large.

By the way, what happened to Mediocre Advice, your best weekly column?

Do you need me to take over?

I am a Gator, and I bleed orange and blue.

Like Socrates, I give great advice.
