Gainesvillista: Three products to help fight acne marks

Gainesvillista: Skin care products
Gainesvillista: Skin care products

Sometimes it feels like you just can’t win against the battle with breakouts. When you do breakout, you fight your face with multiple products only to find something just as bad if not worse than the original problem: post-inflammatory pigmentation or post-acne marks.

Having fought the good battle myself, I’ve found a few products that I think will help speed up the healing process and eventually rid of those awful acne memories for good.

Serums

If you haven’t turned to the help of facial serum to fade scars and even your skin tone, I suggest you do now. Serums are designed to penetrate into the skin with added nutrients and antioxidants than a regular moisturizer would. You can easily add a serum to your skincare routine by putting it on (usually at night) after a toner and before your regular moisturizer. The downside to these products is since they’re practically little miracles in a bottle; they usually come with a bigger price tag. A good serum to pick up at the drugstore is Garnier’s Skin Care Renew Clinical Dark Spot Overnight Peel. It works just as well if not better than most of the more expensive serums I’ve tried in the past. If you’re ready to spend a little more, I highly suggest picking up the Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster by Ole Henriksen. This serum does wonders to help fade marks and make your entire face brighter and softer.

Vitamin E

Before I found my current serum, my mother told me to try out straight up Vitamin E oil to help with my dark marks. Boy, does this stuff make a difference in helping to heal them fast and for cheap. You can pick up a bottle of this oil for only around $4 at just about any major drugstore. One bottle will last you quite a while even if you choose to use it every day. It’s a heavy antioxidant that is best used at night before going to bed in place of your moisturizer. You can also use it in the colder months for dry patches of skin and to heal other scars much faster.

Organic Raw Honey

It may seem a little silly to be putting your favorite spread on your face instead of your toast but it’s completely worth it. You can pick up a container of this yummy stuff at Trader Joe’s for a fair price. It’s a very natural alternative for taking care of your acne marks and can be used multiple ways. Use it as a mask for about 10 to 15 minutes to help fade scars and get baby soft skin or also as an acne wash to prevent future breakouts and marks.

Even though these products can make a dramatic difference in the way your skin looks and feels, it’s still important to stay patient and let time do its work to see the results your want. Also, make sure to keep your skin type in mind when checking out these products and stop using them if they only make your skin problems worse.
