Gator fans will wine and dine on the field of the football team’s new indoor training facility tonight.
The University Athletic Association will host a dinner at 7:30 p.m. for fans in the $15 million facility, which was completed in September.
The dinner costs $250 to $300 per person, depending on purchase time, and will give Gators a chance to see the indoor field, Matt Goss, UAA director of event management, wrote in an email.
Guests will be given a tour, enjoy a cocktail hour and then be able to pose for pictures with UF’s Heisman trophies, he said.
The UAA redesigned its practice facilities, located on Sanders Football Practice Fields, during the summer to make room for the new one, Goss said.
He said the event wasn’t created to make money or attract donors.
"We don’t project to generate much revenue," he said. "It was an event to give interested fans a unique experience in one of our facilities."
Goss said the facility gives the football players the chance to practice, even with the unpredictable Florida weather.
In 2014, the team missed about 30 percent of its practices because of the weather, he said.
This season, the Gators have not missed any practices.
Will Kraus, UAA external events coordinator, said the new space is beneficial to Gator football.
"Just about anything the Gators can do in The Swamp, they can do in the indoor practice facility," Kraus said.
