At 4:54 p.m., Gainesville Police and Gainesville Fire Rescue were notified of a vehicle that caught on fire after crashing into a pole on the 2800 block of Northeast 39th Ave., said GPD Lt. Marc Plourde.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and transported to UF Health Shands Medical Center under a trauma alert, Plourde said. She did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear why she crashed into the pole, he said.

Traffic was blocked for an hour and cleared at 5:54 p.m., Plourde said.
