UF backup quarterback Cameron Newton is in a neck brace after his car rear-ended by a truck on Tuesday, coach Urban Meyer said.
Meyer did not know the severity of Newton's injury until Wednesday, but it was serious enough to keep Newton out of Wednesday's practice.
Meyer initially thought the accident was nothing more than a fender-bender.
"He'll be fine," Meyer said. "He's dealing with some headaches involved with it, too, now."
Newton will be traveling with the team to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend but is not expected to play.
Newton has seen action in just one game this season, throwing two passes and completing one for 14 yards and rushing five times for 10 yards against Hawaii on Aug. 30.
RUNNING BACKS HEALTHY: After injuries have nagged him all season, sophomore transfer running back Emmanuel Moody is finally at 100 percent, Meyer said.
"Moody's looked great," Meyer said.
Meyer did not know how many touches Moody should expect to get against Vanderbilt, but Meyer was pleased to have all of his running backs healthy for a change.
"It's just refreshing," he said. "You're at a point about three weeks ago you're down Kestahn Moore with a hamstring, Chris Rainey was dealing with a little bit of a nagging injury he's had, but he's fine, and (Jeff) Demps, he was it. And Moody had a sprained ankle. Now I think we've got the full complement. … We'll have a full complement Saturday."
Moody actually led the team in rushing yards against Georgia with 71, but he did not see action until the game was well in hand.
ETC: Meyer did not want to comment on offensive lineman Ron Wilson's status with the team, only saying he had not talked to Wilson in a while.
