Letters to the Editor: Swamp Party invites students to join party and Student Senate

Dear UF students,

My name is Katie Backstrand, and I currently serve as the spokeswoman for the Swamp Party. I am pleased to announce that the first day of slating has been extremely successful.

We have heard many excellent ideas from students who have participated in the slating process.  The Swamp Party is confident that there will be a qualified, competitive pool of candidates to select from to serve the UF Student Body in Student Senate this year.

We thank all of the students who came to slate with us and highly encourage any student interested in serving as a senator to consider slating with the Swamp Party.  Slating for Student Senate is a great way to get involved on campus, share your ideas and help give back to UF.

In addition, the Swamp Party has a history of accomplishing the goals established in its platform. We are eager to continue serving to ensure the greatest possible college experience for UF students.

The entire Swamp Party executive board looks forward to the remaining two days of slating in order to select the most powerful, experienced and determined leaders to represent the students. Student Government plays a vital role in the advancement of student life. By slating with the Swamp Party, students can serve in this role, too.

Katie Backstrand

Spokeswoman for the UF Swamp Party
