Change Party announced its executive ticket for the Spring 2021 UF Student Government election Monday.
Wynton White is running for the Student Body president position, along with Matt Rodriguez as vice president and Amy Nicholas as treasurer.
Change is the second party to announce its candidates, following Gator Party’s announcement on Wednesday. Union Party’s plans are still unclear.
The SG Spring election will take place on Feb. 23 and 24. Students will elect a new Student Body president, vice president, treasurer and 50 senate seats representing colleges.
In the Facebook post announcing its ticket, Change leaders wrote that the party was founded on pillars of equity and representation.
“Change Party is committed to fighting for social justice and positive change for all UF Students in their student government,” the post read.
The party’s campaign also established opposition to Gator Party, the current majority party, using slogans such as “Gator Party, we love the way you lie” and criticizing the party for unaccomplished promises in the Facebook video.
White previously held a position as the Gator Party’s spokesperson and served as a Senator for the former Impact Party before starting Level Up, a new and short-lived party.
Tuesday is the last day to slate, or interview with parties, to run for a Senate seat. Interviews are being held on the third floor of the Reitz Union and virtually.
