Concealed carry debate exploits tragedy

While I am not one to disagree with anyone's right to conceal or carry a weapon in public, I think that this issue has been blown out of proportion by the recent in-school violence.

Concealed carry permits are issued for self defense only, not as a way to arm vigilantes. I believe that they are great for protecting you on the street or at night.

However, I do not think they are an alternative to the police, and to say that having students carry guns would be a better solution to school shootings than the police is to admit that we put taxpayer money into a broken system. To use these violent acts as justification to put guns on campus is ludicrous and taking advantage of a tragedy to push an issue.
