Gainesville Police arrested a man accused of firing a revolver and threatening to kill a 19-year-old and a 16-year-old male on Monday.

Carlton Williams, 56, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting a police officer without violence.

On Monday at 9:42 p.m., the victims left their home and walked past Williams on Northeast Fifth Place, according to the report. Williams was standing in the road talking on the phone and drinking a beer.

Williams allegedly spat at the victims as they passed him, according to the report. The victims said they turned around and asked Williams what his problem was. Williams reportedly said several times, “You better ask your daddy about me. I’ll kill you and your daddy.”

The victims also said Williams reached into the front of his pants, pulled out a gun and dropped it on the ground, according to the report. Both victims ran from Williams and heard him allegedly fire several rounds from the gun. The victims were not injured.

Police were unable to determine if Williams fired at the victims or fired in the air, according to a GPD media release.

Several officers stopped Williams six blocks away from where the incident happened, according to the arrest report. While officers were searching Williams, he pulled his arms away, reached into the front of his pants and threw a revolver into the bushes. The gun was found with eight .22 rounds and one spent, empty casing.

After being read his Miranda Rights, Williams said he was standing in front of his house, drinking, and decided to walk to the store because he was running out of beer. Williams denied being in any type of confrontation and having a gun.

Williams has remained in the Alachua County Jail since Monday in lieu of a $85,000 bail.
