Santa Fe College reported seven positive COVID-19 cases between July 20 and Monday. The positive cases include three students and four employees.
Santa Fe’s total reported positive cases since March 2020 is now 787, according to a report from Jay Anderson, the college’s communications manager. About 91% of all positive cases were reported by students.
Last week, Santa Fe opened 12 student files, or case investigations, and 12 employee files, according to the report. Based on the college’s 2,552 total opened case files since March 2020, about 31% of files reported a positive COVID-19 test result.
Two employee cases may have been on-site while positive for the virus, according to the report. The college did not report any additional exposures or community spread from on-campus positive COVID-19 cases.
Santa Fe requests all students, faculty and staff to conduct a daily safety self-assessment prior to arriving at the college and during the day, according to the college website. The college states wearing a mask is optional, social distancing is to be continued through the summer, and vaccinations are not required for attendance or enrollment.
An on-site vaccination opportunity will occur with the beginning of the Fall semester, according to the report.
