A Gainesville man was arrested for domestic battery after police say he threatened to kill a woman when fighting over laundry and a granola bar at about 8 p.m. Saturday.
According to a Gainesville Police Department report, Anthony White, 24, allegedly poked the victim in the head several times during the argument until she locked herself in a bedroom while a witness tried to calm him down.
Irreconcilable, White grabbed a large kitchen knife and stood at the door, according to the report.
White held the knife over his head and threatened to kill the woman, according to the report.
White then piled clothes up in front of the door, set fire to a piece of paper and attempted to use it to ignite the clothes, although the witness extinguished the paper before he could.
White ran from the apartment in Pines Apartments complex, 205 SE 16th Ave., into nearby woods when he saw police approaching.
White walked up to an officer, who was concealed in the dark, then tripped and fell out of fear when the officer spoke, according to the report.
White was charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of simple domestic battery and one count of attempted arson on a structure or dwelling.
