Eco-friendly plant good for Gainesville

When I read the article "City OKs request for plant proposals," I couldn't quite get the grin off my face.

First I was happy to learn our stockpile of beer cans and Five Star boxes isn't forming the familiar "Mt. Trashmore" that I remember from my South Florida days. Second, I was in glee that our local government is actually concerned about recycling instead of leaving the problem for my grandchildren to solve.

The fight between whether to use our trash to create pollution-free energy or new editions of the Alligator is one that does not have a losing outcome. I love that I live in a city that is not arguing where to dump its trash, but instead how to use it most effectively.
