People on campus today will get a taste of what organizations UF has to offer.
UF's student ambassadors group, IDEAL, is hosting the Student Organization Fair on the Reitz Union Colonnade and North Lawn. The fair began Thursday and continues today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
About 200 student organizations will be featured at the fair. On the first day, some of those organizations included UF's To Write Love On Her Arms chapter, UF's Singer-Songwriter Society, the Falling Gators Skydiving Club, Dance Marathon at UF and Students for Justice in Palestine.
Accounting freshman Vanessa Grimaldi attended the fair Thursday. She decided to attend because her roommate recommended she come out and find out how to get involved, she said.
So far, she said, she's interested in joining Gators for the Poor, UFTeach and the Minority Business Society.
Psychology sophomore Emily Branscome agreed.
Branscome is already involved in organizations related to her major like UF's Psychology Club, the Neuroscience Club and Health Occupations Students of America.
However, Branscome said she was interested in learning about other organizations, like IMPACT Autism and community-service club Horizons.
"I think it's really important to get involved on campus because clubs are good to put on resumes, and people like to see that,"she said. "I also think it's good to be involved because you get to learn more about your community both on and off campus."
Mohammad Tina, president of Students for Justice in Palestine, explains to Selina Batchanoo, first-year nursing student, about promoting peace in the Middle East. Tina says the club isn't political - it's humanitarian.
