The dean of UF’s College of Dentistry is stepping down after about 24 years in the college. Teresa Dolan announced her resignation last week.

During her time as dean, she landed the largest contribution to the college — $5.6 million from the Naples Children and Education Foundation. The college also remained in the top 10 for schools in the U.S. that receive support from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.

Dolan said her time as dean was a success because the faculty worked well together.

“We developed a very collaborative culture,” she said.

Dolan is leaving to become vice president and chief clinical officer of DENTSPLY, a dental product supply company.

“This is a pretty unique opportunity to work as a dentist in the headquarters,” she said.

She begins her new job in York, Pa., on July 31. York, she said, is the home of the York peppermint patty, a treat she enjoys.

UF Provost Joseph Glover said Dolan elevated the college’s educational and research programs to national recognition. He said he was sad to see her go.

“Our loss is Pennsylvania’s gain,” Glover said.
