On Election Night, I was disappointed with Sen. John McCain's loss, but I was truly impressed with President-elect Barack Obama's acceptance speech and his resounding victory. I even believed in giving an Obama presidency a chance. After all, that is what "Country First" means.
Unfortunately, Obama is already breaking his platform of change.
News reports indicating that Sen. Hillary Clinton will likely be Obama's choice for secretary of state show Obama is returning to the standard of political patronage that has existed for so long in Washington.
While I respect Clinton and feel she could have a beneficial role in the Obama administration, it is certainly not as secretary as state. She has little foreign policy experience, and her educational and practical experience in the realm of international affairs is poor when compared with the likes of Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice.
The move to make her secretary of state is clearly Obama's way of thanking Hillary supporters who ensured his victory. This would be a move of smart politics, not smart leadership.
Obama is already turning out to be a disappointment, but I thank him for showing me and 59 million other American voters that we did not make the wrong choice on Nov. 4.
