Looked at every credible Heisman Trophy ranking available.
The results: I don't think Tim Tebow will win the Heisman, but I haven't found a player in the country better than him.
And in a season where a No. 1 ranking means nothing, we won't see an undefeated Troy Smith-like candidate to compete with him.
But voters won't make him a Heisman winner because he's only a sophomore - Boston College senior Matt Ryan will be in the meld - but he's still the best.
"He's playing quarterback at Florida. I think he has got to be [one of the] top two to three best quarterbacks in the nation just to be able to run our offense," UF defensive tackle Clint McMillan said.
I don't care if he's only a sophomore, Tebow went into the house of an opposing senior Heisman candidate and won.
Tebow didn't just amble into Andre' Woodson's stadium and make a statement, he made a run-on sentence with an exclamation point at the end.
The loss can't be blamed on Woodson, but he needed the win. If Kentucky had won the game, he would be the current favorite for the Heisman. Now, he will likely be an afterthought.
So Woodson down, you say Ryan is still better? His team is undefeated, after all.
Let's put him in the Southeastern Conference with LSU's Glen Dorsey breathing down his neck. Kiss that perfect record goodbye.
Tebow has as much big-game experience as anyone after playing in LSU's Death Valley and a national championship game. Ryan's great and will be a high NFL Draft pick, but for every positive he has, Tebow has it and more.
Tebow is a leader in every way the Gators need him to be. He has a rocket arm and he can run.
"He'd probably be my first draft pick," UF coach Urban Meyer said of his quarterback after Saturday's win at Kentucky. "If they said, 'coach, you get one pick,' I'd say, 'I've got mine.'"
Darren McFadden? Sorry, but you can't be on one of the worst teams in your conference and expect to be considered among the nation's elite.
McFadden has tons of talent, but come talk to me when his team is bowl eligible and can actually beat a respectable SEC opponent.
Colt Brennan's Hawaii squad is still undefeated, but his four interceptions against San Jose State - even with a bad right ankle - look bad.
Louisville's Brian Brohm needs to stop losing, period. The Cardinals just lost to Connecticut, and they have plummeted in the rankings since the start of the season.
Don't even start with Michigan's Mike Hart. Hart's great, but Tebow's nearly as big as most of Appalachian State's defensive line. You don't lose to a I-AA team and expect to be among the nation's elite.
